3. AAL 2nd Call for Proposals – Evaluation and next Steps
The AAL second call for proposals “ICT based solutions for Advancement of Social Interaction of Elderly People” was closed 5 May 2009. 104 proposals were received and have been evaluated.
The evaluation of the 104 proposals received in AAL Call 2 was done in two phases by independent experts. In the first phase the first team of independent experts evaluated the proposals remotely by using the AAL web-based evaluation tool. The second phase of the evaluation, with the second team of independent experts, included a panel meeting in Brussels (July 20-21) where the ranking list was produced. Out of the 104 proposals received, 41 were retained.
As the budget for the AAL programme consists of a “central budget” received from the European Commission, and “local budgets” allocated from the individual AAL Member Countries, the work has started to optimise the use of available budgets with the aim to fund as many of the retained proposals as possible.
The AAL General Assembly, which is the highest decision making body in the AAL programme, will have its next meeting the 28th of September, and is expected to take a decision on the AAL Call 2 funding list. Thereafter, the plan is to give feedback to the coordinators of proposals about the result of the evaluation and to start up contract negotiations between the retained proposals for which budgets are available, and the Member Countries respectively.
