AAL 2nd Call for Proposals - Submission Results and Evaluation

The AAL second call for proposals “ICT based solutions for Advancement of Social Interaction of Elderly People” was opened the 11th of February with a closing date of the 5th of May, 2009.

The communication of the call for proposals was supported by alerts on AAL central, and members states funding agencies web-sites, info-days in member states, and the AAL central info-day held at the Bavarian Representation Office, Brussels, the 13 of February, with about 250 participants.

It seems that the communication of the Call 2 was generally good, as well as the acceptance of the topic by the community of industry, research, and users, as we received 104 proposals, which shows a sigificant interest for the subject. The indicative budget for Call 2 is 60 million euro and the requested budget amounted 163 million euro, an oversubscription of about 2,7 times.

All 23 countries involved in the AAL programme have partners participating in proposals. As an average, four countries, and 7,3 partners took part in each proposal. The average budget request was 1,6 million euro per proposal.

The evaluation of AAL call two proposals, with external independent experts, is ongoing. The timeframe is that a decision on the funding list should be taken during the next AAL General Assembly in the end of September, and that the negotiation phase, between the proposals and the funding organisations of the member states, should be finalised around the end of the year.
