Promoting our projects

ICT 4 Ageing Well Conference – Lisbon

The AAL Programme participated in another great international appointment in Lisbon between 20 and 22 May 2015, the ICT 4 Ageing Well and e-Health. Such an event was a meeting point for those that study and apply information and communication technologies for improving the quality of life of the elderly and for helping people stay healthy, independent and active at work or in their community along their whole life. Attendees of this event came from several countries internationally and the exhibition area featured interesting projects and companies in this field. That is why, within the broad plan to raise the visibility of our projects, ASSISTANT and CAMELI joined us with their demonstrations and promotional material.

ASSISTANT contributes to maintaining the mobility of older people in Europe. It does this by helping them to travel safely and independently by public transport. ASSISTANT provides an online trip planner and a smartphone app to guide travellers during every stage of their journey. Product features have been specifically crafted to support older people.

CAMELI is a two-year AAL project seeking to provide automated services with the purpose of assisting elderly people in their daily activities and assist in the provision of a comfortable quality of care. The CaMeLi project utilizes common tablet devices, installed in the living quarters of the user, with innovative avatar interfaces that are able to recognize the users’ affective state and behaviour as well as express emotions and other human-like behaviours. This virtual avatar thus assists in the daily activities of the elderly user and is able to aid in the care of the user through a Co-Care communication platform consisting of actual formal and informal human care-givers.
