Exploring ageing in place in the AI era – your latest AAL Workshop
Discover how AI is supporting ageing well in place, as well as how we can make this technology accessible for all. Attend the latest AAL workshop live in Bergamo or virtually online
The AAL Programme continues its successful series of interactive workshops with a timely new session: “Ageing in Place in the Artificial Intelligence Era.” Taking place as part of the Age-IT conference in Bergamo on 22–23 October 2025, this half-day event will explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping the possibilities for older people to remain in their homes, both independently and supported, for longer.
As in all AAL workshops, the session promises to spark fascinating dialogue on one of the most pressing issues of our time, being framed by the question that affects us all: how can technology, and AI in particular, enhance quality of life for older people while ensuring the benefits are accessible for all?
From AI-enabled virtual assistants in the home, to the integration of IoT technologies into urban planning, delegates will be able to explore opportunities and risks as well as consider how innovations can support autonomy and wellbeing, while addressing challenges such as the digital divide and accessibility for those less familiar with new tools.
Organised by the Centre for Healthy Longevity at the University of Bergamo, the workshop brings together geriatricians, psychologists, sociologists, urban planners and technology experts. With this multidisciplinary approach, and the participation of leading international institutions including Stanford, Harvard and Singapore University, it will provide an unparalleled opportunity to hear from those who are shaping the future of ageing and technology.
For delegates, the value of attending will include both learning and engagement opportunities. Scientific experts will gain fresh insights into the intersection of AI and ageing, while practitioners, policymakers and older adults themselves will be able to explore how these technologies can be meaningfully applied in real life. The workshop will also provide a platform for regional, national and international stakeholders to connect and share ideas for collaboration.
So, if you are interested in the future of ageing, health and care ecosystems, and the role technology can play in supporting active and healthy ageing, this is a must-attend event. You can join the session live at the AGE-IT conference in Bergamo OR you can join online, on 22–23 October 2025.
