Networking session and EXPO at ICT Conference 2015 in Lisbon

Business models in ICT based solutions

The ICT 2015 conference is the bi-annual event organised by the European Commission, DG Connect, and hosted this year by FCT (Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia) in Lisbon, Portugal. There were more than 7000 registrants, from all over Europe and beyond. The programme of the conference was organised around three main axes: Innovate, Connect, Transform, and with three main tracks: one about policy and mainly organised by the EC representatives but with external speakers; the presentation of the ICT work programme, and the networking sessions, organised by the community and selected by the EC.

The AAL Programme organized a networking session at the ICT conference 2015 in Lisbon and it was present with a stand in this major event organized by the European Commission. The booth was part of the EC pavilion and it was an occasion to present the advantages that AAL offers to R&D, SMEs, end users organizations and large industries in the field of ICT for active ageing and to disseminate information about the Forum 2016 and the AAL challenge prize.

The networking session focused on the discussion and exchange of best practices. Three AAL projects were present (CONFIDENCE, PAELIFE, ELF@HOME) and presented their experiences in the implementation of the business model and the way they overcame barriers along the path to commercialisation. The audience was composed of almost 60 persons that participated with interest and interact with the presenters. The combination of the different points of view (large enterprise, SME, spin-off and university) was very interesting e.g. Microsoft is proposing B2B and B2C models and collaborating with Portugal Telecom and the small entities looking for investment.
