Link-ages

Link Ages is about connecting families in a safe way through an app that allows a group to create a safe “bubble” that only those invited in can join. This enables family groups and carers to stay connected online and share pictures, chat, send messages and alerts and manage appointments.

“We wanted to make digital communication easy for older people,” says Fiona Willis of Link Ages and a passionate digital evangelist. “We also wanted to make it affordable, which is why we developed a software solution – an app.” Another priority was to create the bubble system, in an effort to reassure older people and family members that communicating online was safe.

Now, in response to the pandemic, as you will hear in our interview with Fiona, Link Ages is soon to be released as a free version. This will help people stay connected as a family group immediately as so many older people feel more and more isolated. “Everyone is using video calling to stay in touch at home and at work,” she says. “We wanted to capitalise on that so older people can stay digitally active in the future, too.”
